Whitstable - English riviera !

Photography copyright - fashiontent 2010

The British sea side resort is back in fashion. Take the train from Victoria to the Kent coast and you find Fashionable Whitstable. About an hour from London on the train Whitstable has alot to offer. It has a flamboyant, eclectic high street full of independent traders and art galleries as well as useful chains. It is a working town and has a clean sea and pebbled beaches due to the fact that it has an Oyster producing industry and as a result has a crop of very good restaurants particularly Wheelers, Pearsons and The Sports Man attracting those who love fresh sea food locally as well as from London. It is recommended you book well in advance as they get very busy.
From a fashion and lifestyle location point of view it has a wealth of potential as a back drop for a photography shoot. Whitstable is so unspoiled and natural and long may it remain so.

Wimbledon 2010 Day Four fashion fix

Sharapova in her rose petal dress looked very elegant and almost balletic when she played, easily beating her opponent in straight sets.

Wedges were popular yesterday.....

I have randomly photographed the best dressed I saw on my wanderings around Wimbledon village between matches.
The dress at Wimbledon was predominantly comfort led and casual, shorts or skirts with t shirts, light summer dresses, flat sandals were everywhere, the gladiator sandal being the most popular. Higher shoes when worn were wedged.
Hats in the form of the Panama, the Trilby, the Cow Boy hat and Boho floppy were everywhere in all shapes and sizes. The fact that the sun beats down onto the courts with little or no shade has made the hat a must at Wimbledon.
The maxi dress hailed as a trend led success this summer was present and popular. It was mostly worn with flat gladiator sandals.

Greg Michael King - photographer

As Giulio Mazzarini is unfortunately unable to attend next weeks final presentations of my Art direction course at CSM I have invited Greg Michael King a technically versatile and creative photographer to talk about his work. Greg has done a good selection of commercial work from fashion and beauty to advertising, please look at his web site www.gmkphotography.com. It will be great to have him along to show his portfolio and give feed back to the students on their concepts for fashion brand campaigns and editorial shoots - some of which I will show case here later - watch this space.

Cambridge Fashion

Photography fashiontent copyright - 2010

Cambridge is a brilliant place to shop. There is a big John Lewis in the centre of town attached to a large shopping mall holding all the top retail fashion brands, such as Top Shop and Monsoon. Off the market square you will find a collection of lovely historical shopping lanes brimming with independent retailers as well as brands such as Fat Face, Jig Saw, White Stuff, Zara and Jack Wills. The town has a wonderful cosmopolitan mix similar to London. The atmosphere is relaxed and less fast paced. Academia and commerce combine well here to create a typical British mix of history and heritage with all the positives of modern life.
