Upper Mid Town New York street Style

Love this bun style, very chic...

New Yorkers do a lot of walking I find, the sensible ones wear chic flat shoes like this girl and put on their heels at their destination!

New York - Running shoe trend - bright flash of neon colour on feet looks great

these ASICs caught my eye on Madison Ave
I like the pattered sole and bright colours
Nike do brights

His and hers Nike brights

A flash of colour on New York Streets....

Look out for this trend for wearing bright coloured and patterned trainer/running shoes hitting London much like the bright coloured jeans trend did last year - An extension to the Sports/daywear merge that is happening at the moment where breathable fabrics and comfort with style are deriguer for an active, easy, laid back lifestyle....upgrading style and comfort into the luxury market will follow - I predict Chanel, Dior will be doing a diffusion Sportswear collection...this is a trend that started with the Hip Hop Tribe and has been adopted by the mainstream New York set, even if it is only the funky trainers at the moment - I wanted to get some and asked a Sarah Jessica Parker lookalike in Bergdorf Goodman or was it Bloomingdales where she got hers. She helpfully said the 'Running shop' off 38th - I tracked it down to near Columbas Circus. There are plenty of ASICS, Nike and NEWTONs on the internet but  the patterned and coloured trainers as in the first shot at the top of this post are not easy to find - have any of you out there got any ideas ?

New York Manhattan Luxury store Barney's leads in clever etailing onsite shopping trend

A wealthy Chinese shopper makes the most of her time at Barney's where in the restaurant at the top of the store there are interactive iPad like screens set into the table top where lunch or coffee can be ordered and whilst you wait more shopping can be done from the store online.
Barney's visual merchandising was impressive

The view from the Barney's restaurant balcony over exclusive uptown real estate

Barney's sale floor ! not that busy in all the top top end stores I visited!

view down onto the street at side of Barneys off 5th Avenue, no one with any sense has a car in New York,  it is a parking lot in the rush hour as can be seen below!

New York - Up Town Manhatten Street Style -

Two chic 'Up Town' Manhattan women on their way to a function walking next to Central Park Columbas Circus end. Note the different neck lines , one in navy has a classic waspish Sabrina neckline, the other in white has a sexier flattering halter neck. I like the pink and green sunglasses and bold necklace the girl in white is wearing. Also note one is wearing comfortable low shoes and the other high heels both have similar multi gladiator style straping. Both women look fabulous and are dressing to suit their mood!

New York - 'Mad Men' influencing Madison Avenue style right now

Mad Men influencing New York Up Town Fashion  - A Peggy Olsen look alike seen on Madison Avenue 2 days ago

Peggy Olsen's figure hugging sexy chic is now copied in New York.
The  Evidence - I noticed girdles and other figure controlling lingerie in Barneys, Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor, Macys, and Bergdorf Goodman's ' Intimate apparel' depts in Up Town Manhattan. Most dress depts were full of 1950 and 60s styles for Summer.
